In a recent incident at Buni Gari, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, gunmen who are thought to be Boko Haram terrorists killed no less than nine individuals.
Some Buni Gari villagers claim they learned about the attack on Thursday when one Shettima Dawi attempted to go look for firewood a few kilometers distant but was unable to make it back home.
His neighbors and family members mobilized in response to the crisis to search for him in the jungle, only to come under attack from the alleged Boko Haram fighters.
According to the locals who spoke to Channels TV, “10 people have been killed by the suspected insurgents after they went to look for their brother (Shettima Dawi) who left home yesterday (Thursday) to scout for firewood far from Buni Gari but could not return home.”
The first victim, Shettima Dawi, was among the 10 people that walked into the woods to hunt for Shettima; only one of them survived with minor injuries and is receiving medical attention.
However, contrary to reports, nine people were killed by the terrorists, according to Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesman for the Yobe State Police Command, who verified the incident.
